Term Three Learning Behaviours!

Welcome Back Grade Fives!

Our second term is over and you have all been working hard to develop good learning behaviours: listening carefully to lessons and instructions, completing work carefully and completely, checking your work over for errors, preparing for quizzes, and asking for help as needed. Learning behaviours are not about marks or about helping others. They are things you do, every single day, to help you become a stronger student.

As we move into our final and third term, I would like you to share which learning behaviour(s) you are going to work on particularly hard. In today's response, and in a correct paragraph, please tell which behaviours you have chosen. Also, listen (text-to-speech) to your comment prior to posting it to me.

As always, I look forward to reading your responses. I will make every effort to help you practice these learning behaviours.

Showing Curiosity!

Hello Grade Fives!

This week you will be completing an assignment for our “Healthy Living” unit. Please read the Learning Intentions for the upcoming assignment before you continue reading this blog.

Today, I want you to explore the National Geographic site. In your Blog response, I would like you to tell me the five animals you plan to learn about, and I want you to tell me two areas you will explore to learn about how they keep healthy and safe (e.g. keeping safe from predators).

Remember to respond in a complete paragraph. Before you submit your response, you must use spellcheck, listen to your response, and make sure that it makes sense.

As always, I look forward to reading your responses.

A Good Sinkutview Citizen!

Good afternoon Grade Fives!

Today, I will provide your topic sentence: A 'good Sinkutview citizen’ helps our school community in many ways.

Quick Reminders:

  1. write your response on a word document
  2. edit your response (e.g. spelling, SS are complete sentences)
  3. listen to your response
  4. post your response to the Blog

As always, I look forward to reading your responses.

Decision-Making Model

Hello Grade Fives,

On Friday, Cst. Visser came to begin our D.A.R.E. program. Today, I would like you to practice the Decision-Making Model. First, a brief review:

D- Define: describe the problem, challenge or opportunity that you are dealing with

A-Assess: assess the different choices; what are they? (good and not so good)

R-Respond: make a choice, using the facts and information you have gathered

E-Evaluate: review your decision, did you make a good decision?

Now, using a four line frame (not a complete paragraph), choose a recent problem, challenge or opportunity you have had to deal with (you could also choose a current problem).

As usual, I look forward to reading your thoughts!
