Hello Grade Fives!
Our first term is over and you have all been working hard to develop good learning behaviours: listening carefully to lessons and instructions, completing work carefully and completely, checking your work over for errors, preparing for quizzes, and asking for help as needed. Learning behaviours are not about marks, they are things you do, every single day, to help your become a stronger student.
As we move deeper into term two, I would like you to share which learning behaviour(s) you are going to work on particularly hard. In today's response, and in a correct paragraph, please tell me which behaviours you have chosen. Also, listen (text-to-speech) to your comment prior to posting it to me.
As always, I look forward to reading your responses. I will make every effort to help you practice these learning behaviours.
Note: you can also use the text-to-speech to listen to this blog letter, prior to responding.

Play Day
Good morning Grade Fives!
This morning, you will spend some time playing with a new tool on our Blog. From now on, I would like you to listen to your comment prior to posting it. Today, you will play with this tool. The tool is a 'text-to-speech' tool. You paste your comment into the box and then listen to the computer read your comment aloud. You will find instructions for using this tool in the side bar under PAGES. You will also find a quick link, to the tool, just above my most recent letter.
Today, I want you to copy and paste in something you or I have written e.g. Just Between You and Me, an earlier blog response, or a letter I have written to you in this blog. Listen and play!
Enjoy. Love, Mrs. French

Report Card Time
Dear Grade Fives,
It is report card time and while I was working on your report cards, trying to provide specific suggestions for you, I was thinking that it would be helpful to hear from you about things that I do that help or things that I could do to help you more. In a full paragraph, please write about one way that I can help make your learning easier. You might choose to use your support sentences to provide me with specific examples.
Although I always look forward to your comments, I am particularly excited about reading them today. Just like you, I am always learning and trying to find new and improved ways to do things.

Goal Setting
Good morning Grade Fives,
You have been working on a goal, each week, for several weeks. I would like you to tell me whether goal setting is working for you. Is it helping you make some changes you want to make? If not, why do you think it is not helping and what can you do differently.
As usual, please answer in a full paragraph. I look forward to reading your responses.

Highlight From Your Summer!
Hello Grade Fives!
This summer, my husband and I rode our bikes up to Ft. St. James. Over July, we practiced increasing our biking distance. By the end of July our longest bike ride was thirty miles. In late August, we rode up to Ft. St. James, stayed two nights, and then we rode back to Vanderhoof. Riding to Ft. St. James was one of the highlights of my summer.
In a full paragraph, I would like to hear about one of your summer highlights!
Remember to....

You may also choose to tell me anything else that you think is important for me to know about your learning.
